"Integrating the Internet into the Classroom: An Online Course" (ED 648) is a three-week class which will provide you with the pedagogical principles and hands-on skills needed to enhance your teaching with Internet resources and activities. This online course is appropriate for ESL and mainstream teachers at the elementary, secondary and college level. Participants will access a bank of Web sites focused on their specific teaching area, learn to search for and evaluate Web sites efficiently, explore techniques for integrating Internet resources into lesson plans, and create Web pages and online activities designed specifically for their particular students. Participants receive a high level of individualized support from the instructor and collaborate with fellow teachers via an electronic bulletin board and a class Email list. The course requires an average of two hours of work per day for three weeks for most participants. The time and place one works is completely flexible. Participants do not have to be online at the same time of day. The only requirements to take the course are basic email and keyboarding skills, and very limited experience surfing the Web. Participants need a reliable Email and Internet connection. Novices and advanced computer users alike have rated this course very highly. Offered through the office of Special Projects at the Graduate School of Education at Lewis & Clark College, the class will be held online June 16-July 8. There are two credit/cost options available: 1) $250 non-credit option (30 P.D.U.'s), fee payable to Michael Krauss 2) $160 additional payment for graduate credit option (2 semester hours degree applicable credit), fee payable to Lewis & Clark College.
